There's a lot to love about clothing-optional resorts: the sexy atmosphere, the ability to sunbathe sans restricting bathing suits, and the (often) fun entertainment. And after visiting many across the globe, we've found that the more luxurious resorts offer more impressive facilities and sleeker rooms than the mid-range or value options. So whether you want to go completely au naturel or simply avoid tan lines at nude-friendly beach and pool areas, check out our picks for the best luxury clothing-optional resorts in the world.
1. Hidden Beach Resort by Karisma, Tulum
The luxurious Hidden Beach Resort by Karisma is an adults-only, clothing-optional resort located between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. This all-inclusive property is set along an attractive stretch of beach, though it’s too rocky for real swimming. Instead, guests can hang out at the large pool, which has a swim-up bar and hosts communal activities such as volleyball. The 42 elegant rooms here are all suite-style, outfitted with two-person hot tubs, ocean-view outdoor spaces, and free minibars. Ground-floor units offer swim-out access. There’s only one restaurant, minimal nightlife, and no spa, but guests can use all facilities at the next-door El Dorado Seaside Suites, though clothing is required. Visitors tend to be in the 50-and-over crowd, and the atmosphere is relaxed.
2. Desire Riviera Maya Resort, Puerto Morelos
The 114-room Desire Resort & Spa is a clothing-optional all-inclusive resort for couples only, attracting a mix of older married couples, young nudists, and swingers. This swish property has an explicit sexual atmosphere, as public sex is allowed in the whirlpool area and the Sin Room — a space equipped with round beds and straps for those who want to take part in activities with their partners and other guests. Sexy theme nights are also popular nighttime experiences. Non-sexual on-site amenities include a lovely ocean-view pool and hot tub, a small spa with a variety of treatments, and four restaurants serving Japanese, Mediterranean, and international buffet-style fare.
3. Grand Lido Negril Au Naturel All-Suite-Resort, Jamaica
The clothing-optional Grand Lido Negril Au Naturel All-Suite-Resort is a small luxury property with all-inclusive rates for adults 21 and over. With just 26 rooms, the atmosphere is intimate and laid-back, and guests tend to be an older crowd. Upscale rooms all have ocean-view terraces, jetted tubs and separate two-person showers, and butler service, plus six are swim-out suites. The main infinity pool spans two levels and has ocean vistas, a swim-up bar, and an adjacent hot tub, but some past guests have complained that it’s clothing-optional and not nude-only. A Jamaican eatery and ocean-view French restaurant are on-site, and guests get free access to everything at the neighboring Royalton Negril and Hideaway at Royalton Negril resorts, though clothing is required.
4. Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort, Puerto Morelos
Like its sister property, the all-inclusive Desire Riviera Maya Pearl Resort is a couples-only, clothing-optional resort. Although it still has a sexual atmosphere, with theme nights, a playroom, and a sex-friendly hot tub, it’s a little more relaxed than its sister property. It’s located on a beautiful white-sand beach right outside of quiet Puerto Morelos, which is a 30-minute drive south of Cancun International Airport. The 88 rooms are spacious, and all have furnished balconies or patios, iPod docks, and separate showers and tubs. Resort amenities consist of a huge beachfront pool with a swim-up bar, nighttime parties, a full-service spa, and two restaurants.
5. Temptation Cancun Resort
The 430-room Temptation Cancun Resort is a topless-optional beachfront property that accepts travelers who are 21 and over. The atmosphere is sensual, and guests tend to be couples wanting a fun and sexy getaway. Although there’s a quiet pool, the larger ocean-view Sexy Pool is more popular, and the staff run lively activities and entertainment here. Several hot tubs are available, but guests have complained that they close on the early side — 7 p.m. during our stay. Entertainment is provided throughout the day and night, ranging from foam parties and lingerie shows to themed nights with DJs. Renovations in 2017 gave the resort a colorful, modern design, and the upscale rooms all have balconies.
6. Couples Sans Souci, Jamaica
The 148-room Couples Sans Souci is a beachfront all-inclusive resort occupying 35 acres just outside of Ocho Rios on Jamaica’s central northern coast. The lush grounds house waterfalls, grottos, beaches, lakes, and jungles, making for a gorgeous tropical setting. In addition to a great spa, there are four pools and two beaches — the au naturel beach is larger and nude-only from morning until evening. It has an adjacent pool — something the main beach doesn’t — which makes it pretty alluring. Rooms have colonial-inspired nautical style, furnished balconies or terraces, and coffeemakers, plus hot tubs in suites.
7. Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa, Jamaica
The 516-room Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa is an upscale, all-inclusive resort along Jamaica’s northern coast. It’s about a one-hour drive from Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay. Although this family-friendly property doesn’t allow nudity in most areas, there are clothing-optional pool and beach zones for adults only. Multiple pools, several restaurants and bars, kids’ play areas, and a full-service spa make this hotel a good pick for travelers seeking lots of activity. Expect contemporary rooms with outdoor spaces and iPod docks, plus hot tubs in some suites.
8. Cambridge Beaches, Bermuda
Luxurious and romantic, the 96-room Cambridge Beaches is one of the top options in all of Bermuda. Occupying 30 acres, this resort offers a ton for travelers. It’s not completely clothing-optional, but it’s only open to adults most of the year and there’s a clothing-optional sundeck overlooking the pool and beach. There are two lovely pools, an expansive spa, and four private beaches, plus three restaurants with a heavy emphasis on seafood. Travelers who choose the all-inclusive rate are able to eat for free at The Reefs and Pompano Beach Club resorts.
9. Couples Negril, Jamaica
The 234-room Couples Negril is a romantic, peaceful all-inclusive resort located on a gorgeous stretch of beach in Negril, Jamaica. Although it’s not a true clothing-optional resort, there’s a designated nude beach area that has its own hot tub and bar. Note that couples must use it together, however. A chic pool with a swim-up bar, atmospheric spa with treehouse treatment rooms, and five restaurants offering a buffet, Asian, Mediterranean, and Jamaican fare are all available. The comprehensive all-inclusive package covers all meals and top-shelf drinks, plus scuba diving, fitness classes, and catamaran cruises.
